The Snake Ridge Lookout Tower was constructed in 1939 to help spot wildfires. Today the more than 100 foot tall tower stands at The Wayne National Forest headquarters just off Hwy. 33. Today the Snake Ridge tower is used as a communication tower. Forest Service employees use the tower to communicate from remote locations in the forest. The tower is also used for radio traffic with aircraft contracted for forest use.
